A dog may hump a leg much like an invitation to a β€œplay” party. Think of it as a simple display of playfulness and attention-seeking. At times, dogs will attempt to ride their owner's leg due to anxiety issues, as a means of easing their stress.🌺

Looks cute Ann. To me too. However, I understand my Gadhu if he keeps jumping, he might accidentally hurt people and even us when he's over 30-35 kg. So it's important that we avoid reinforcing this from the beginning. Why they jump? Because they have been conditioned out of love and cuteness. When they jump up, they get attention. However, they can be taught that in order to get attention, they need to be in a sitting position. Jake our of excitement could jump. You might be carrying something risky in hand or not vigilant. Or maybe you're home with a packet of grapes. Try rewarding calm behaviour by first letting Jake sit and then open the door. Wait until he sits. Try training him when you're actually not outside for long for practice, then when you're back home, he'll know that excitement is fun and allowed too but only after calmly greeting dearest Ann πŸ’•
