Is grooming at grooming centres stressful for dogs?
I've heard many shih Tzu start shivering when they are taken to grooming parlours

Hi, I have lhasa Apso who does the same thing but once they are used to it, it becomes a normal thing for them.

Yea
It depends on the way we grow our puppies, the way they Listen to your words, the trust they have on you,
it's not that stressful but just they need to get habituated for that grooming sessions too
when they r soo small we need to take them to the grooming nd get trimmed so that they loose the fear of grooming
In summers it is must to groom Shih tzu's fur so yea slowly they gets habituated to that nd doesn't face any issues when they come to the age of 1 or 2
You can divert him by giving treatos Or his or her fav food and by cuddles by pampering
Give him/her some time to get habituated to the grooming is what all I say!!
I hope this info is helpful to your shih tzu

Mine is 6 month old so I think it's better to take him at this age to get him used to it

For many dogs/pups who are uncomfortable with body manipulation, the dog grooming experience can be a stressful one. A nervous or fearful dog who doesn't like to be touched makes the job that much more challenging for your groomer and that much more unpleasant for your dog..
And Dear I think you experienced this...???

Dogs can become fearful of other dogs that are also there for a grooming even when dogs are kept separate.
Dogs have more sensitive hearing than humans and the noise can cause them stress. Many groomers also use a high velocity dryer that blasts the water off the dog's coat without using heat. The pressure can be startling, and many dogs can be upset by it, especially as the groomer gets near their feet or head.

When we groom him he's is not scared
but my aunt's Shih Tzu was shivering when they took him to the groomer
And they had to stay by her( lilo) side in the whole session
But when they groomed her at she was more comfortable
